Rivet Nut Flange Head Half Hex Open End fasteners are designed to fit into a hexagon hole, preventing the blind threaded rivet nuts from turning after installation.
Rivet nuts are internally threaded inserts used in applications where the material thickness may be too small to tap a conventional thread. Rivet nuts create a solid thread to help with high-strength fastening from bolts and other threaded items.
Suitable for load-bearing applications, the flange head reinforces the hole and resists push-out forces.
Flange Head Half Hex Open End Rivet Nuts are manufactured from standard zinc-plated steel, A2 stainless steel, and A4 stainless steel.
Available at Juxin Fasteners in sizes M3 to M12 as standard.
Non-standard sizes and materials are available to order as specials, including small-volume manufacture, modifications, and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
Hexagonal Rivet Nuts for Electrical Cabinets and Enclosures
Hexagonal rivet nuts are widely used in electrical cabinets and enclosures to fasten thin sheet-metal components, including rear and side panels, mounting rails, and internal brackets. They are especially suitable for cabinet structures manufactured from thin-gauge steel sheets (typically 0.5–6.0 mm), where traditional welding may cause deformation, burn-through, or surface damage.
Unlike welded nuts, hexagonal rivet nuts are installed using a cold-forming riveting process, creating a strong and reliable internal thread without heat input. This makes them an ideal fastening solution for electrical enclosures and sheet metal assemblies.
Key Advantages of Hex Rivet Nuts
Fast and Single-Sided Installation
Hex rivet nuts can be installed quickly using manual, pneumatic, or hydraulic rivet nut tools. Installation is completed from one side only, making them ideal for enclosed cabinets and confined installation spaces where rear access is limited or impossible.
Secure and Durable Threaded Connection
Compared to tapping threads directly into thin sheet metal, rivet nuts provide a stronger, more durable internal thread, reducing the risk of thread stripping or damage from repeated assembly and disassembly.
Anti-Rotation Hex Body Design
The hexagonal body shape prevents rotation during installation and tightening, improving installation efficiency and ensuring consistent fastening performance. Hex rivet nuts are commonly available in carbon steel and stainless steel (such as 304 stainless steel) to meet varying mechanical and corrosion-resistance requirements.
Wide Application in Electrical Equipment
Hex rivet nuts are commonly used in the production of:
Electrical cabinets and control panels
Distribution boxes and switchgear
Mounting rails and component brackets
Grounding terminals and fan assemblies
They are particularly suitable for non-structural, load-bearing fastening points within electrical enclosures.
Installation Recommendations
For optimal performance, the rivet nut installation tool should be kept perpendicular to the workpiece surface during setting. Improper alignment may result in incomplete expansion or misaligned threads.
The appropriate rivet nut type—open-end or closed-end (blind)—should be selected based on sheet metal thickness, environmental exposure, and strength requirements to ensure a secure and long-lasting connection.
