Polyvinyl chloride PVC is refractory and can burn on the flame, off the fire is extinguished; the combustion flame is yellow, the lower end of the green, white smoke; combustion of the plastic softens, emitting an irritating acidic odor. Under ultraviolet light, rigid PVC produces light blue or purple-white fluorescence, and soft PVC produces blue-white fluorescence. Polyvinyl chloride PVC is generally rarely added to flame retardant modification; calcium and zinc stabilizers are the main additives.
PVC has good resistance to chemicals, flame retardant, wear resistance, muffling, shock absorption, excellent electrical insulation properties, good mechanical properties, monomer source comprehensive, low-cost products, and so on. It can be molded using a variety of molding methods. The main drawbacks are poor thermal stability, heat caused by different degrees of degradation, and low softening temperature; soft products and plasticizers are the disadvantages, and therefore, can only be used below 80 ℃.
