Product Specification
JX-NZFS Stainless Steel Knurled Self-Clinching Hex Nuts for Industrial Sheet-Metal Assemblies
Product Overview
JX-NZFS stainless steel knurled self-clinching hex nuts are internally threaded fastening components designed to create permanent, reusable threaded attachment points in compatible sheet-metal assemblies.
JUXIN FASTENERS supplies the JX-NZFS series for OEM equipment manufacturers, industrial sheet-metal fabricators, electrical enclosure builders, mechanical engineers, production managers, and international purchasing organizations.
The product incorporates a hexagonal external body with knurled or inclined retention features.
During controlled press installation, suitable surrounding sheet material deforms into the designated retention geometry.
This mechanical engagement helps resist rotation and axial displacement of the installed nut.
Once correctly installed, the nut provides a retained internal thread for subsequent assembly using a compatible screw or bolt.
The stainless steel construction distinguishes JX-NZFS from the steel JX-NZF series and brass JX-NZFB series.
Stainless steel may be selected for corrosion resistance, material compatibility, appearance, or other application-specific requirements.
However, stainless steel grades differ significantly in mechanical properties, corrosion behavior, hardness, and manufacturing characteristics.
The correct alloy and installation configuration must be selected according to the approved engineering specification.
JX-NZFS Product Construction and Retention Mechanism
The JX-NZFS series combines an internal metric thread with a hexagonal external body.
The supplied product information identifies knurled and inclined retention features.
These features are intended to engage the supporting panel during press installation.
The fastener is positioned in a correctly prepared mounting opening.
A controlled compressive force is applied using suitable installation tooling.
Where the supporting material is compatible, the sheet material flows into the designated retention features.
The resulting mechanical engagement helps prevent the nut from rotating or being displaced during subsequent assembly.
The installed nut can provide a reusable threaded connection without a welding operation.
The actual retention performance depends on the fastener geometry, panel thickness, sheet material, hole dimensions, and installation conditions.
The supplied information does not establish numerical torque-out or pushout ratings for the JX-NZFS series.
Such performance requirements must be confirmed through approved technical documentation or application-specific testing.

Stainless Steel Material Selection
Stainless steel is not a single material with uniform mechanical and corrosion properties.
Different grades can provide different combinations of corrosion resistance, strength, hardness, machinability, and deformation behavior.
For self-clinching hex nuts, material selection must consider both the finished fastener properties and the installation process.
SUS302 Stainless Steel
SUS302 is an austenitic stainless steel grade.
It may be considered for selected industrial fastening applications where its mechanical and corrosion characteristics meet the project requirements.
The required material condition and manufacturing process must be defined.
SUS303 Stainless Steel
SUS303 is an austenitic stainless steel grade commonly selected for improved machinability.
It can be useful for machined threaded components.
However, its corrosion behavior differs from other austenitic grades because of its composition.
The suitability of SUS303 depends on the actual operating environment.
SUS316 Stainless Steel
SUS316 is an austenitic stainless steel grade containing molybdenum.
It generally provides improved resistance to certain corrosive environments compared with common non-molybdenum austenitic grades.
However, corrosion resistance depends on the actual environment, surface condition, and material specification.
SUS316 should not automatically be described as immune to chloride corrosion, pitting, or chemical attack.
SUS410 Stainless Steel
SUS410 is a martensitic stainless steel grade.
Its mechanical properties can vary according to heat treatment and material condition.
It may be considered where the required strength, hardness, and corrosion characteristics are compatible with the application.
SUS420 Stainless Steel
SUS420 is a martensitic stainless steel grade that can achieve different hardness levels depending on heat treatment.
Its suitability for a self-clinching nut must consider both the final mechanical requirements and the intended installation mechanism.
SUS430 Stainless Steel
SUS430 is a ferritic stainless steel grade.
It provides a different combination of corrosion resistance and mechanical characteristics compared with austenitic and martensitic stainless steels.
The required material condition and application environment must be evaluated.
These grades should not automatically be treated as interchangeable.
The approved drawing and material specification must identify the required grade, condition, and applicable inspection requirements.
International Material Standards and Equivalent Grades
For international OEM procurement, stainless steel material requirements may be specified using applicable ASTM, EN, ISO, or other recognized international standards.
Common stainless steel grade families include austenitic, ferritic, and martensitic materials.
A nominal grade designation alone does not establish complete equivalence between different material standards.
Chemical composition limits, mechanical properties, heat treatment, and product form may differ.
For example, a customer requesting a stainless steel component under an ASTM specification should identify the exact standard, grade, and material condition.
Similarly, an EN material designation should be specified with the applicable product standard and required properties.
Material equivalence should be confirmed through the relevant specification rather than assumed from a general grade name.
Metric Internal Threads and International Thread Standards
The JX-NZFS series is intended to provide reusable internal metric threads.
Relevant international metric thread standards include ISO 68-1, ISO 261, ISO 724, and ISO 965.
ASME B1.13M provides a corresponding metric screw thread reference used in American industrial applications.
The complete thread designation should identify nominal diameter, pitch, and tolerance class.
A 6H internal thread tolerance class is common in metric fastening applications.
However, the actual JX-NZFS thread tolerance must be confirmed from the approved drawing.
The supplied information does not establish that every configuration uses the same tolerance class.
Metric threads are not directly interchangeable with UNC, UNF, or other inch-thread systems.
For international purchasing programs, the mating screw and nut specifications must be checked before production approval.
Sheet-Metal Thickness and Installation Compatibility
The supplied product information references sheet-metal thicknesses greater than approximately 0.6 mm.
Other reference material describes self-clinching applications in sheet metal around 1.0 mm thick.
These values should not be treated as universal minimum thickness specifications for every JX-NZFS configuration.
The actual minimum panel thickness depends on the selected nut size, retention geometry, and supporting sheet material.
The panel must provide sufficient material for mechanical engagement.
If the sheet is too thin, the nut may not achieve the required retention.
If the panel is too hard, the supporting material may not deform adequately.
The installation opening must match the selected nut geometry.
For OEM applications, the correct panel thickness range must be confirmed from the approved technical drawing.
Panel Hardness and Material Compatibility
Self-clinching fasteners depend on controlled deformation of the supporting sheet.
The supplied reference information identifies ductile materials with hardness values around HRB 80 or lower for certain self-clinching applications.
This is a general engineering reference and does not establish a verified JX-NZFS hardness limit.
The actual allowable panel hardness depends on the fastener material, heat treatment, retention geometry, and installation requirements.
Stainless Steel Panels
A stainless steel nut should not automatically be assumed suitable for installation into every stainless steel panel.
The supporting sheet may be too hard to deform into the nut's retention features.
Some stainless steel clinch fasteners are specifically designed for installation into harder stainless steel sheets.
However, compatibility must be established for the actual fastener and panel combination.
Aluminum Panels
Aluminum may be suitable for selected stainless steel press-fit nut configurations where the sheet grade, thickness, and hardness allow the required material flow.
The engineer should consider the relative hardness of the nut and panel.
Steel Panels
Mild steel panels may be suitable for certain self-clinching fasteners.
The actual panel hardness and thickness must be verified.
Copper Panels
Copper may be considered where the supporting material and mechanical requirements are compatible with the fastener design.
Plastic Panels
Conventional metal self-clinching installation should not be assumed suitable for plastic materials.
A dedicated threaded insert or validated fastening design may be more appropriate.
Installation Procedure for JX-NZFS Stainless Steel Hex Nuts
Correct installation begins with the approved fastener and panel specifications.
The mounting hole must be prepared to the required diameter and tolerance.
The panel should be inspected for excessive burrs or deformation.
The nut is positioned in the prepared opening according to the intended installation orientation.
Suitable punch and anvil tooling should support the fastener and panel during installation.
Controlled compressive force is applied using an appropriate press.
The supporting sheet material should engage the designated retention features.
The nut must be seated according to the approved installation specification.
After installation, the internal thread should remain functional.
The panel should be inspected for cracking, excessive distortion, or other damage.
The supplied information does not establish a universal installation force or tooling arrangement for every JX-NZFS configuration.
Production validation should be performed using representative materials and tooling.
Installation Force and Stainless Steel Fastener Behavior
The installation process must create sufficient engagement without damaging the fastener or supporting panel.
Insufficient force may leave the nut incompletely seated.
This can reduce torque-out or pushout resistance.
Excessive force may deform the supporting panel, damage the nut, or distort the internal thread.
The required installation force depends on nut geometry, stainless steel grade, material condition, panel thickness, and supporting sheet properties.
For repetitive production, installation settings should be validated and controlled.
Where retention performance is critical, representative installed samples should be tested.
Torque-Out and Pushout Performance
Torque-out and pushout resistance are important characteristics of self-clinching nuts.
Torque-Out Resistance
Torque-out resistance describes the ability of the installed nut to resist rotation in the supporting panel.
It depends on the external geometry, material engagement, and installation quality.
Pushout Resistance
Pushout resistance describes the ability of the installed nut to resist axial displacement from the supporting panel.
It depends on sheet thickness, material properties, retention geometry, and installation conditions.
The supplied information does not provide verified numerical ratings.
For OEM applications, required retention performance should be established through approved testing or technical documentation.
Stainless Steel JX-NZFS Compared with Steel JX-NZF
JUXIN FASTENERS supplies JX-NZFS stainless steel hex nuts and JX-NZF steel hex nuts as separate product configurations.
Both belong to the broader family of knurled self-clinching hex nuts.
Both are intended to provide retained internal threads in compatible sheet-metal assemblies.
The primary documented distinction is the material family.
JX-NZFS uses stainless steel material options.
JX-NZF uses carbon steel material options.
These differences can influence corrosion behavior, strength, hardness, installation characteristics, and compatibility with the supporting panel.
However, the supplied information does not establish identical dimensions or retention performance.
The two series should not be substituted without engineering verification.
Stainless Steel JX-NZFS Compared with Brass JX-NZFB
JX-NZFB is identified as a brass or brass alloy series.
JX-NZFS is identified as a stainless steel series.
Brass and stainless steel have different mechanical properties, corrosion characteristics, and manufacturing behavior.
The appropriate choice depends on the supporting panel material, required thread strength, operating environment, and installation requirements.
Neither material should automatically be described as superior for every application.
The selected fastener must be validated for the actual assembly.
Self-Clinching Hex Nuts Compared with Weld Nuts
Weld nuts are attached to supporting metal components through welding.
Self-clinching hex nuts use controlled mechanical pressing.
Press-fit installation can avoid welding heat and associated weld spatter.
This may be useful for selected sheet-metal assemblies where welding is undesirable.
However, weld nuts and self-clinching nuts have different installation requirements and mechanical performance characteristics.
The correct choice depends on panel material, thickness, installation access, and required retention performance.
Self-Clinching Hex Nuts Compared with Rivet Nuts
Rivet nuts create threaded connections through deformation of a tubular or partially tubular fastener body.
Many rivet nuts can be installed where access is available from only one side.
Self-clinching hex nuts generally require suitable press access to both sides of the panel.
Rivet nuts may therefore be preferable for closed sections or assembled structures with limited rear access.
Self-clinching hex nuts may be appropriate for controlled factory sheet-metal production where press access is available.
The selection should consider installation access, panel thickness, required thread size, and mechanical performance.

Stainless steel self-clinching hex nuts can be considered for appropriate mechanical mounting functions.
Material compatibility, cleaning exposure, and applicable regulatory requirements must be evaluated separately.
The supplied information does not establish medical-device certification.
Corrosion Resistance and Environmental Selection
Stainless steel is often selected for applications where corrosion resistance is important.
However, corrosion performance depends on the specific grade, surface condition, and operating environment.
SUS302 and SUS303 have different corrosion characteristics.
SUS316 may provide improved resistance to certain corrosive environments.
SUS410, SUS420, and SUS430 have different corrosion behavior compared with common austenitic grades.
For applications involving moisture, cleaning chemicals, chlorides, or outdoor exposure, the complete assembly should be evaluated.
This includes the nut, mating screw, supporting panel, and any other contacting components.
Dissimilar-metal contact may influence corrosion behavior in certain environments.
The correct stainless steel grade should be selected according to the actual service conditions.
Production Efficiency and Manufacturing Cost Considerations
For production managers, the installed cost of a threaded fastening system includes more than the purchase price of the nut.
Relevant factors include hole preparation, installation tooling, operator handling, inspection, rework, and final assembly labor.
A press-fit hex nut may reduce the need to position a loose nut during final assembly.
It may also eliminate a welding operation where the sheet material and joint design permit mechanical clinching.
However, the installation process requires appropriate press access and tooling.
The supporting sheet must be compatible with the fastener.
For high-volume production, a controlled installation process can improve consistency.
The production team should verify that the fastener seats correctly and that the internal thread remains functional after installation.
Where mechanical retention is important, representative production testing should be included in process validation.
Common Installation Problems and Prevention
Incorrect Hole Diameter
An oversized hole may reduce mechanical engagement.
An undersized hole may prevent correct seating or damage the fastener.
The hole must match the approved drawing.
Insufficient Panel Thickness
A panel that is too thin may not provide enough material for retention.
The minimum panel thickness must be confirmed for the selected nut.
Excessive Panel Hardness
A hard supporting sheet may not deform sufficiently into the retention features.
Material hardness must be evaluated before installation.
Incorrect Installation Orientation
The fastener must be positioned according to the approved installation geometry.
Incorrect orientation may prevent proper seating.
Insufficient Press Force
Incomplete installation may reduce torque-out and pushout resistance.
Excessive Press Force
Overpressing may distort the panel, nut body, or internal thread.
Damaged Internal Threads
Thread damage may occur through incorrect tooling, excessive deformation, or incompatible mating fasteners.
Thread engagement should be checked after installation.
Unverified Stainless Steel Panel Compatibility
The supplied product information mentions stainless steel panels among possible application materials.
However, suitability must be confirmed for the actual panel grade and hardness.
Stainless steel fasteners should not automatically be assumed compatible with all stainless steel sheets.
Unverified Plastic Compatibility
Conventional self-clinching installation relies on metal deformation.
Plastic materials require separate evaluation because their mechanical behavior differs from sheet metal.
