JUXIN FASTENERS manufactures flat head, open-end brass blind rivet nuts with smooth round bodies for creating internal threads in thin panels, hollow sections, and industrial assemblies requiring one-sided installation.
During installation, a compatible rivet nut setting tool deforms the body behind the mounting panel, providing mechanical retention without welding or tapping threads directly into thin sheet material.

Metric Thread Reference
The following pitches correspond to standard ISO metric coarse threads. The actual thread specification must be verified against the product drawing.
| Nominal Thread | ISO Metric Coarse Pitch |
|---|---|
| M4 | 0.7 mm |
| M5 | 0.8 mm |
| M6 | 1.0 mm |
| M8 | 1.25 mm |
| M10 | 1.5 mm |
| M12 | 1.75 mm |
Thread designation and tolerances should be defined using applicable ISO metric thread specifications, including ISO 261, ISO 724, and ISO 965 where relevant.
These standards describe thread requirements; they do not establish the dimensions or performance of the complete blind rivet nut.
Engineering Selection and Installation Guide
1. Brass Material Selection
Brass offers electrical conductivity, formability, and corrosion behavior that differ from carbon steel and stainless steel.
Material selection should account for the specific brass alloy, service environment, mechanical loading, and mating materials.
For drawing-based OEM orders, the brass grade and material condition should be established using an agreed specification.
ASTM or EN material specifications may be referenced where applicable to the selected alloy and product form.
Brass components should not be assumed suitable for high-load structural connections without appropriate mechanical verification.
2. Mounting Hole and Panel Compatibility
The smooth round body is intended for installation in a correctly dimensioned mounting hole.
Engineers should verify:
Mounting hole diameter and tolerance
Panel thickness and material
Hole edge condition and burr removal
Flange contact surface
Minimum edge distance
Clearance behind the panel
An oversized mounting hole may reduce resistance to rotation. Incorrect hole preparation or panel deformation can also affect installation quality.
3. Grip Range Selection
The published grip range of 0.5–6.0 mm represents the available product series, not a guaranteed range for every thread size.
The selected part must match the actual panel thickness and the individual product drawing.
For soft panels, coated sheets, or assemblies with variable thickness, sample installation testing is recommended.
4. Brass Deformation During Installation
Blind rivet nuts are installed by applying axial force through a compatible setting tool, causing the designated body section to deform behind the mounting panel.
Because brass deformation behavior depends on alloy composition, material condition, and part geometry, installation parameters should be established for the specific component.
Excessive setting force or stroke can damage the internal thread, distort the flange, or compromise the installed joint.
Insufficient setting may result in poor retention.
5. Spin-Out and Pull-Out Resistance
Two important installation performance characteristics are:
Spin-out resistance: The ability of the installed rivet nut to resist rotation when tightening or loosening a mating screw.
Pull-out resistance: The ability of the installed rivet nut to resist axial extraction from the mounting panel.
Both depend on rivet nut geometry, brass material properties, panel material, mounting hole dimensions, and installation conditions.
A smooth round-body rivet nut should not be assumed to provide the same anti-rotation performance as a knurled-body or hex-body insert.
For repeated maintenance or higher tightening torque, evaluate an alternative body configuration if necessary.
6. Electrical Conductivity and Grounding
Brass is electrically conductive, making it a potential material option for selected electrical and electronic equipment assemblies.
However, electrical continuity through an installed rivet nut depends on surface condition, contact pressure, coatings, oxidation, and the complete joint design.
A brass rivet nut must not be treated as an approved grounding or protective bonding connection without application-specific validation.
7. Corrosion and Galvanic Compatibility
Natural brass can be suitable for certain indoor and mildly corrosive environments, depending on the alloy and exposure conditions.
When brass contacts aluminum, steel, or other dissimilar metals in the presence of moisture, galvanic corrosion risk should be evaluated.
Brass alloys may also be susceptible to environmental degradation, including stress corrosion cracking under certain conditions.
For marine, outdoor, chemical, or high-humidity applications, confirm the actual environmental requirements before material approval.
8. Open-End Configuration and Screw Length
The open-end design allows the mating screw to extend beyond the threaded insert when sufficient clearance is available.
Engineers should confirm:
Mating screw thread compatibility
Available thread engagement
Screw length
Backside clearance
Potential interference with nearby components
Open-end brass rivet nuts do not provide an inherently sealed connection.
9. Installation Validation
For OEM production approval, evaluate representative samples for:
Correct mounting hole fit
Proper backside deformation
Flange seating
Thread integrity
Spin-out resistance
Pull-out resistance
Repeated screw assembly where applicable
Corrosion and electrical performance where required

Typical Industrial Applications
Brass blind rivet nuts may be selected for electrical equipment housings, electronic instrument enclosures, control panels, lighting assemblies, decorative metal components, equipment cabinets, and light-duty fabricated structures.
Their electrical conductivity and non-ferrous composition may be relevant to certain equipment designs, but electrical continuity, grounding performance, and corrosion compatibility must be validated at the assembly level.
Engineering Selection
Brass is generally softer than many commonly used steel fastener materials. Engineers should therefore evaluate installation deformation, thread strength, spin-out resistance, and pull-out performance rather than substituting brass directly for an existing steel rivet nut.The smooth round body also requires careful mounting hole control, particularly where repeated screw tightening may apply rotational loads.
