JUXIN FASTENERS manufactures flat head, closed-end steel blind rivet nuts with smooth round bodies for creating internal threads in thin sheet metal, hollow sections, and industrial assemblies requiring one-sided installation.
The closed-end barrel prevents screws from passing through the insert end and eliminates the direct opening through the threaded cavity. Complete joint sealing requires separate validation.

Engineering Design and Installation Guide
1. Closed-End Versus Open-End Rivet Nuts
Closed-end rivet nuts incorporate an enclosed barrel end, while open-end rivet nuts have a through-opening.
The closed-end design can help prevent direct entry of contaminants through the threaded barrel end.
However, it does not automatically prevent leakage between the rivet nut flange and the mounting panel.
For watertight or airtight applications, additional sealing measures and complete assembly validation may be required.
2. Screw Length and Internal Bottoming
Unlike open-end threaded inserts, closed-end rivet nuts have a finite internal cavity.
If the mating screw is too long, it may bottom against the closed end before the joint is properly clamped.
This can cause misleading tightening torque readings, incomplete joint clamping, internal thread damage, or deformation of the closed barrel.
Before specifying screw length, engineers should confirm:
Available internal thread depth
Minimum required thread engagement
Total clamped material thickness
Screw length and tolerance
Allowance for washers or other assembly components
Closed-end clearance after installation
3. Mounting Hole Compatibility
The smooth round body requires an appropriately sized mounting hole.
Excessive clearance can reduce rotational retention, while an undersized hole may prevent proper installation or damage the surface finish.
Mounting hole dimensions and tolerances must be taken from the approved product drawing.
4. Grip Range and Panel Thickness
The published 0.5–5.5 mm grip range represents the product series and does not apply automatically to every size.
The selected configuration must be compatible with the actual panel thickness and material.
Panel hardness, coatings, and local deformation behavior may affect installation performance.
5. Installation Procedure
Prepare the mounting hole according to the approved drawing.
Remove burrs and inspect the panel surface.
Select the correct rivet nut setting mandrel.
Insert the rivet nut and seat the flange against the panel.
Hold the setting tool approximately perpendicular to the mounting surface.
Apply the specified setting stroke or force.
Inspect the formed backside retention section.
Check flange seating and internal thread integrity.
Perform retention testing when required by the application.
6. Spin-Out Torque and Pull-Out Resistance
Smooth-body rivet nuts rely on the installed deformation and interaction with the mounting panel for retention.
For applications involving repeated screw removal, vibration, or elevated tightening torque,
spin-out resistance and axial pull-out performance should be evaluated.
Knurled-body or hex-body alternatives may be considered where additional anti-rotation engagement is required.
7. Sealing and Environmental Protection
The closed barrel blocks direct passage through the insert end, but complete sealing depends on the full assembly.
Potential leakage paths include:
Flange-to-panel interface
Damaged or deformed mounting holes
Incomplete flange seating
Cracks or damage in the closed barrel
Other openings in the enclosure assembly
For applications requiring defined ingress protection, testing may be specified according to IEC 60529 where applicable.
An IP rating must not be claimed for the individual rivet nut without supporting evidence.
8. Blue Zinc Coating and Corrosion Requirements
The existing product specification identifies blue zinc plating.
Coating thickness, passivation chemistry, corrosion performance,
and restricted-substance conformity must be established by the applicable purchase specification.
ASTM B633 or ISO 2081 may be referenced where appropriate for electroplated zinc coating requirements.
The coating appearance alone does not establish corrosion resistance or RoHS conformity.
9. Engineering Validation Checklist
Before approving an OEM application, evaluate:
Mounting hole fit
Individual grip range
Backside deformation
Flange seating
Screw engagement and bottoming clearance
Spin-out resistance
Pull-out resistance
Thread condition after setting
Corrosion requirements
Joint sealing performance, where applicable

Typical Industrial Applications
These closed-end blind rivet nuts may be used in electrical enclosures, control cabinets, HVAC equipment housings, machinery covers,
fabricated steel brackets, vehicle body components, and industrial equipment panels.
They are particularly relevant where engineers need a blind threaded attachment point while avoiding an open passage through the end of the insert.
Engineering Selection
Engineers must verify grip range, mounting hole dimensions, installation stroke, flange seating, thread engagement, and available backside clearance.
Because the barrel is closed, screw length must be controlled to prevent bottoming against the internal end of the insert.
For applications involving water, dust, pressure, or other environmental exposure, the complete installed joint must be evaluated rather than relying on the closed-end configuration alone.
JUXIN FASTENERS supports drawing-based OEM sourcing and industrial purchasing requirements for closed-end steel blind rivet nuts.
