Steel blind rivet nuts

Flat Head Open end Round Body Plain Blind Rivet Nuts

JUXIN FASTENERS manufactures color zinc-plated steel blind rivet nuts with flat heads, smooth round bodies, and open-end internal threads for one-sided installation in thin sheet metal and fabricated industrial components.

During installation, a compatible setting tool deforms the rivet nut body behind the mounting panel, creating a secure threaded attachment point without requiring rear-side access.

Metric Thread and Body Diameter Reference

The following thread pitches and body diameters are reproduced from the existing product information for preliminary engineering reference.

Body diameters must be verified against the applicable JUXIN FASTENERS product drawing before mounting hole dimensions or tooling are finalized.

Metric threadThread pitchPublished body diameter
M30.5 mm5.0 mm
M40.7 mm6.0 mm
M50.8 mm7.0 mm
M61.0 mm9.0 mm
M81.25 mm11.0 mm
M101.5 mm12.4 mm
M121.75 mm16.0 mm

All dimensions are in millimeters. Thread pitches shown are standard metric coarse-thread references and must be confirmed for the selected part.

The published body diameters are not mounting hole recommendations. Hole diameter, hole tolerance, flange dimensions, overall length, installation length,

and individual grip range must be established from the approved technical drawing.

Mounting Hole Compatibility

Smooth round-body blind rivet nuts require correctly sized mounting holes and controlled installation deformation to achieve satisfactory retention.

• Verify the specified mounting hole diameter and tolerance against the selected rivet nut body diameter.
• Remove excessive burrs and inspect hole roundness, panel flatness, and surface condition.
• Confirm sufficient material around the hole to support flange seating and installation loads.
• Evaluate rotational resistance where the assembly will experience repeated screw tightening or removal.

Excessive mounting hole clearance, poor hole preparation, or incorrect setting conditions may reduce installed retention.

Unlike hexagonal or knurled-body designs, smooth round bodies do not provide the same form of geometric anti-rotation engagement.

Grip Range and Panel Material

The published grip range of 0.5–6.0 mm represents the available product family and does not apply to every thread size or individual configuration.

The correct rivet nut must be selected according to the actual panel thickness and the grip range stated on its approved drawing.

Panel material, hardness, thickness variation, and local deformation characteristics can affect installation performance.

Representative testing is recommended when installing into high-strength sheet steel, aluminum panels, coated sheet metal, or other materials with significantly different forming behavior.

Flat Head and Flange Seating

The flat head provides a flange bearing surface against the front face of the mounting panel.

Design engineers should evaluate flange diameter, flange thickness, seating flatness, edge distance, and interference with adjacent components.

A flat-head rivet nut normally remains raised above the panel surface by its flange thickness.

Where reduced projection or flush installation is required, a suitable thin-head or countersunk configuration should be evaluated instead.

Open-End Thread Configuration

The open-end design permits a mating screw or bolt to extend through the threaded insert when sufficient clearance is available behind the panel.

Screw length and thread engagement must be selected to avoid interference with nearby components or enclosed equipment.

An open-end rivet nut does not provide an inherently sealed threaded connection.

Applications requiring moisture or dust sealing should use a separately validated sealing arrangement or an appropriate alternative configuration.

Installation Procedure

  1. Prepare the mounting hole according to the approved drawing.

  2. Confirm that the rivet nut matches the panel thickness and required grip range.

  3. Select a compatible setting tool, mandrel, and installation nosepiece.

  4. Insert the rivet nut until the flange is seated against the panel.

  5. Apply the specified installation stroke or force to deform the body behind the panel.

  6. Inspect flange seating, backside deformation, and thread condition.

  7. Verify installed retention using the inspection or testing requirements established for the assembly.

Installation settings must be validated for the selected part number, panel material, and equipment.

Excessive or insufficient deformation may affect thread condition and retention performance.

Spin-Out Torque and Pull-Out Resistance

Installed joint performance depends on the complete assembly rather than the rivet nut material alone.

For smooth round-body rivet nuts, rotational resistance is particularly sensitive to mounting hole fit, panel properties, installation deformation, and joint geometry.

• Spin-out torque evaluates resistance to rotation of the installed insert.
• Axial pull-out testing evaluates resistance to removal under an applied axial load.
• Repeated assembly testing may be appropriate where screws are removed and reinstalled during servicing.
• Vibration and fatigue evaluation should reflect the loading conditions of the actual application.

No universal spin-out torque or pull-out load is claimed for this product family.

Acceptance criteria should be established through approved drawings, customer specifications, and representative assembly testing.

Color Zinc Plating and Corrosion Considerations

The steel rivet nuts are supplied with a color zinc-plated surface finish, subject to the confirmed product specification.

The term color zinc plating describes a general finish appearance and does not independently establish coating thickness, passivation chemistry, corrosion resistance, or restricted-substance compliance.

Engineering and purchasing teams should confirm:

• Required zinc coating thickness and permitted thickness variation.
• Passivation type, finish appearance, and any additional sealing treatment.
• Corrosion test method and acceptance criteria, where applicable.
• Coating compatibility with the installation process and mating materials.
• Applicable restricted-substance requirements, including RoHS where specified.
• Surface treatment documentation and inspection requirements.

ASTM B633 and ISO 2081 may be considered when defining an appropriate electroplated zinc coating specification, subject to the selected coating system and contractual requirements.

Compliance must be established through the actual approved specification and supporting documentation.

Dimensional Verification and Technical Drawings

The existing JUXIN FASTENERS technical specification PDF, pages 89–90, is identified in the product information as a dimensional reference.

Its contents and current revision should be checked before relying on it for engineering approval.

Final manufacturing and installation decisions should use the applicable approved product drawing, including:

• Internal thread designation and tolerance.
• Body diameter and dimensional tolerances.
• Flange diameter and thickness.
• Overall body length and installation geometry.
• Individual grip range.
• Recommended mounting hole dimensions.
• Surface finish and inspection requirements.
• Drawing revision and customer-specific acceptance criteria.

A reference table or catalog description should not replace the approved technical drawing for production release.

Industrial Applications

Color zinc-plated steel flat-head open-end smooth-body blind rivet nuts may be evaluated for the following industrial applications:

• Electrical enclosures and industrial control cabinets.
• HVAC equipment, ventilation assemblies, and sheet-metal housings.
• Machinery guards, access panels, and industrial equipment covers.
• Fabricated steel brackets and sheet-metal subassemblies.
• Tubular steel frames and hollow structural components where one-sided installation is required.
• Automotive brackets and non-safety-critical equipment assemblies, subject to application
